Shanghai Gucun Park in Baoshan District preserves the cultural heritage of historical Jiangnan water towns from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Famous for its pure and radiant cherry blossoms, the park blends ancient stone bridges and small rivers with endless greenery, offering a peaceful sanctuary right inside the bustling city of Shanghai

A little about the destination! Stepping into Gucun Park, one instantly feels the profound breath of time. This sanctuary in northern Shanghai is far more than a typical urban green space; it is a living canvas where the ancient soul of Jiangnan still lingers. Between the gentle whispers of flowing creeks and the time-worn curves of old stone bridges, the chaotic rhythm of the modern city completely fades away, leaving only the quiet peace of nature.

I had the opportunity to visit here at the end of March. At this time, the colors of the cherry blossoms were no longer as vibrant as they were at the beginning of the season, yet they were still enough to immerse the park in a sea of blossoms. Although I did not have the time to explore the entire park due to its immense size, the impression Gucun left behind was a place of profound tenderness, relaxation, and abundance of flowers. It was a beautiful place to behold Shanghai's cherry blossoms for the first time in my life. They were so lovely, with pink hues gently fading from deep to soft shades, incredibly pure and radiant.

The park was not too crowded, allowing you to capture a picture exactly as you wished, romantic and full of poetry. As for me, I captured the beauty of the cherry blossoms by raising my camera high, photographing the flowers against the clear blue sky.

In the March weather, the air was cool and truly pleasant, making the scenery appear even brighter. Perhaps it is the best time of the year to visit this park, though I arrived a little late.

Walking around the park, a sense of nostalgia vividly emerges through the small rivers and old stone bridges harmoniously interwoven with the endless green carpets. And what you realize at that very moment is that you are also in the heart of Shanghai, one of the most bustling and modern cities in Asia. Now, let us admire these beautiful blossoms in the park together.

I kept finding small reasons to stop on the way to Kiyomizu-dera. There was a plant beside a wooden doorway, a neat row of pottery inside a shop, and a tiled roof above a quiet stretch of road. The Storm, the Sea, and One Very Warm Night at Hôtel Perle d'Orient Cat Ba

I hadn't planned to arrive this way. The ferry had barely docked before the sky opened up, rain falling sideways, wind loud enough to drown out everything else, the kind of storm that makes you question the entire idea of travel. Cat Ba , an island I had looked forward to for weeks, greeted me in shades of grey. The sea looked nothing like the photos. The streets were nearly empty. There are places you stumble upon almost by accident, and places you choose deliberately. Blue Lagoon Cat Ba was somewhere in between for me, a quiet corner of the island that I had read about briefly, bookmarked without much thought, and then found myself grateful for in ways I hadn't expected. The cable car ride to the island was an experience in itself. Getting there was part of the experience itself. I rented a car from Hanoi , taking the road toward the Sunworld Cat Ba Cable Car . The cable car ride alone was worth the detour.
